Multifunctional hospital bed

The design of the multifunctional hospital bed primarily targets patients who have limited mobility due to illness or disabilities and are unable to care for themselves. This paper addresses such situations by designing a multifunctional hospital bed based on ergonomics to meet the needs of bedridden patients for treatment and daily activities. This design aims to achieve the following functions: turning, sitting up, bending knees, bowel movements, eating, and reading. These functions are independently or cooperatively accomplished by mechanisms such as the turning mechanism, back-lifting mechanism, and knee-bending mechanism. When designing each motion mechanism, the form of the mechanism is first devised, and its working principle is analyzed. Then, graphical methods are used to calculate the specific dimensions of each component within the mechanism. After designing the overall bed structure, key load-bearing components like the bed frame rod and back-lifting rod undergo verification calculations. Initially, the main mechanism diagrams are drawn according to the design plan, followed by the creation of a 3D model of the multifunctional hospital bed using SolidWorks software. Finally, a 2D drawing of the multifunctional hospital bed is exported from SolidWorks and then appropriately modified and adjusted in AutoCAD software.
