Chinese mask standards are divided into three categories: Civil mask standards represented by GB/T32610 "Technical Specification for Daily Protective Masks", mainly targeting air quality pollution environments; industrial protective mask standards represented by GB 2626-2006 "Respiratory Protective Equipment—Non-powered Air-purifying Particle Respirator", mainly applicable to industrial work environments.
The medical field standards are as follows: GB 19083-2010 "Technical Requirements for Medical Protective Masks", YY 0469-2011 "Surgical Mask", YY/T 0969-2013 "Disposable Medical Mask", mainly suitable for the medical field. Depending on the usage scenario and user group of masks, what standards should sanitary masks used by ordinary consumers be produced against has caused confusion for manufacturers and market regulators.
To better meet the urgent demand of the public for sanitary masks, to facilitate the application of standards by enterprises that produce/convert to mask production under the current emergency situation, while ensuring product quality, and facilitating market regulation, the China Nonwoven Textiles Industry Association, along with the Technology Development Department of China National Textile and Apparel Council, organized mask production enterprises, filter material production enterprises, testing institutions, and higher education institutions to urgently establish a group standard for "Civil Sanitary Masks" with the Technical Committee for Standardization of the China National Textile and Apparel Council.
This standard is led by the China Nonwoven Textiles Industry Association and, under the guidance of experts in the medical, personal protection industry, and academia, organizes mask production enterprises, filter material production enterprises, testing institutions, and higher education institutions to jointly draft it. The promulgation of this standard will provide technical support for mask production enterprises, provide a basis for market regulation, and facilitate consumers in choosing suitable masks.
